Rogers’s Home

In 1928, Will Rogers purchased a ranch in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains overlooking Pacific Palisades. He lived on the ranch with his wife and their children until his death in 1935.

His ranch was a place of relaxation and fun for Rogers, where he could practice his roping skills, spend time with his family and escape the stresses of Hollywood. The home was a Western-style cabin with 31 rooms, 11 bathrooms, seven fireplaces and plenty of porches and patios to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Besides the ranch house, Will Rogers also developed a polo arena, corral, and riding ring on his land in the mountains of Pacific Palisades. After his death, his ranch became a state park and was eventually gifted to the state of California by his family.

Will Rogers State Park is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. It offers a number of activities including tours of the 31 room ranch house, horseback riding and a moderate three mile hike loop to Inspiration Point.
